  • Lights "pulse"

I don't know why it does this, but at night when my lights are on, they noticeably go in a cycle of dimmer and bright when idling or at low RPMs. I don't have any large electrical loads on the car, and the alternator was replaced right before I bought the car.

    Any ideas?

This isn't mission critical, but it's one of those things that just bugs me...

    Regards,

I'm no expert, but sounds like an alternator problem. I had the same problem in my '91 Jetta. Check your battery voltage. On my Jetta it was overcharging at something like 14.7V

mine does that, too. On mine, its the efe heater for the carb cycling on and off. But, its still cold here. BTW, I resent that "thing".....

I know the alternator isn't a Festiva one, because the replacement alt. was welded to the bracket.

Make sure the belt for the alternator isn't loose. It will cause the lights to dim at idle.

The belts are on there really tightly - recently I replaced the drivebelt because it was threadbare. I used a prybar as a lever to tension it and you could bounce a cinderblock off it...
