  • Sounds like a thrown rod to me

Replaced daughters leaking cam seal last week. Noticed PO had attempted to use silicone on the seal. I was worried but the newseal, although I was able to install it with mu thumbs, looked to be holding.

Daughter kept an eye on the oil until a day ago. Then, today, the oil light came on and she heard a knocking. Took approx three quarts to fill, oil was pouring out the seal, and now it sounds like this even with oil.

    Anyone have a spare B3, or 1st gen B6 to donate? .

I think I have the makings of a good B3, actually. Sux tho...

We might have to talk, have to work on some ideas, thanks!

Any who, pulled the oil pan, number one connecting rod bearing had tons of slop. Pulled the cap, bearing wiped

      Looked at the crank...

      Scored.

Smooth Criminal is gonna need some real work...

There are 5 festies in a JY where I live. All vary from an auto to a 5 speed. I'm sure one of the engines in one of them are good and some have low miles on them I'm sure.
I'll check for price and mileage when I'm out there again.
I know one is missing the head on the engine.

Thanks Mike! Right now, time is of the essence, I may try something a little crazy, like throw another crank and bearings in it and roll. I dunno yet. All the other bearings are inside service limits as is, and the endplay is as well.

New theory about daughters car. This is the oil pump seal. Instead of losing oil and killing the crank, looks like the bearing wiped, and then it took out the seal, causing the major oil loss.

Daughters clutch was almost worn out, rear main seal had just started leaking. Already purchased a new seal, and Steve (stretch) gave me a new clutch last Madness, thanks broseph!
