  • what other cars can I get hlas from for my festiva

I have a 1991 festiva that has a head tick on startup. Ive been reading and I belive its the hlas. The local junkyard has 0 festivas so I was wondering what other cars habe the same part# any info is appreciated and thanks in advance.

You want to replace the HLA's with new ones. They are very tiny, and fail for various reasons. I would reccomend running an engine cleaner through your oil like sea foam.Change your oil and lifters. They are super cheap and it works like a charm. So far EVERY used B3 I've aquired has been in need of them. While your in there inspect the valve tips for excessive wear.If nothing is out of the ordinary your good to go-

check your oil level first it may just be low in oil, when you start your car the pump has to pick up the oil from the sump, also if your oil is too thick to pick it up cold and has to move around in order to be sucked in by your pump, if you park in an uphill and your oil is low.

please check your oil and use the right weight we don't want you to lose your festiva to poor oil lubrication!

I just bought the car so I dont know what oil is in it. I will do an oil change tomorrow. Im kinda scared of useing seafoam. Ive done it in the past on my corolla and it only made things worse. As for buying new hlas I will do that.

as far as seafoam. I rather get a fuel injector cleaner and use the tool to put it into the intake manifold. but that's just me. chevron with techron I have used it and its great

Yes, a cleaner will reveal bigger problems if they're there. For the usual crankcase cleaning, it can't hurt too bad (1/3 pint sea foam 50-200 miles before oil change)
