  • Hydraulic lifter replacement

I am installing a new set of lifters in my engine and I have a question. On my friends old ford we had to soak the lifters in oil so they didn't have air trapped in them when installed. Should I do the same when installing lifters in a B6?

years ago on my 350 motor i put a lifter in a can of oil and then took a push rod and pumped it up and down to prime the lifter. i do not know if it applies to a Mazda motor.

I would agree with mechanicaldj. It wouldn't hurt to do it, and it probably calls for it. I know on my 94 GT that's what I had to do when I put in the 331 Stroker, and hey, its extra lube....you can never have too much lube

I filled the place where the HLA slides into with oil. As I pushed in the new HLA oil shot out through the little hole.

I'd consider that full primed. LOL.

Otherwise, within a second of the oil pump spinning and pressurizing everything they'll get filled pretty quickly.
