88 Festiva transmission swap

I have a Festiva (build date of 12-87) with a bad manual transmission. Will a manual trans from a 93 (build date 12-93) fit in the 88? They both have 1.3 four cyl. engines.

Yep but you will get an extra gear.

The swap itself is no problem, but unless you live somewhere like AZ you'll probably run into various bolts that don't like being disturbed. And expect that you'll need to replace the transmission mount closest to the firewall no matter where you live. Even if the clutch is OK, new pilot & throwout bearings are a very good idea while you're in there, and it's ever so easy to replace the axle seals when the trans is out. Those seals are cheap, too.

Also, again unless somewhere like AZ, the brake lines that run between the firewall and crossmember (just below that trans. mount) have a tendency to fail after all has been put back in place (personal experience in 2 of 3 trans swaps) so inspect closely when the crossmember is out.
