Whats all the buzz about?

Hey folks. Being that I have only ever driven one Festiva, I have a question today about vibration or buzzing of the gear shift at higher engine RPM's. I notice on my 93L, that once the RPM's get to 3K or so, the gear shift begins to vibrate slightly and create a buzzing sound. I do realize that sound and vibration will transfer via the linkage and support rod from the gear shift assembly to the transmission. Are there better motor mount, transmission mount or linkage bushings that can help with this? What say ye?

Shifter linkage bushings.

Worn shifter bushings in the console common. Shfiting would be sloppy. A search will turn up brass replacements for about $40 which one of the members recommends. I belive nylon bushings are also avaiable.

You can check the shifter linkages for wear from underneath the car.

A search of the Internet will turn up motor and transmission mounts for $20-$30 each.

Wm and Rocketman....I have replaced the shifter bushings.

How loose is the shifter in the socket? There's a "clam shell" bushing down there that might let it vibrate if it's worn

Rocket, I think that may be the issue. Can such a clam shell be purchased?
