check engine light

    check engine light

    Ridding earlier and a few times upon acceleration in top(forth) gear check engine light pops up but each time would disappear after lightly taping breaks.
    I have a diagnostic machine but only for 95 s and above.
    Any ideas?

    Can I find a list of components that would trip it off?

    I little more info on your car and engine might be helpful.
    '93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

      You need to pull the codes stored on the ecu.
      You do this by grounding a single wire connector , located buy your break booster. Not sure with one you ground it's been a while and I now have. Capri wiring harness in my car so I no longer use this to pull my codes.
      You ground this connector turn your key to the run passion then count the flashes. That simple . Some one else will chime in and let you know exactly witch wire to ground.

        William, nice info if he has a EFI, but he has a 4 spd so there is the possibility that he has a carbie. But we don't know do we?

          I hate intermittent check engine lights.
          Please don't lose any sleep over it.

          Now you know why I threw out my ECU and hooked my check engine light to my manual choke. Good night everybody.

            Fuel injection, four speed trans ( aftermarket)
            91 L model. Super basic no tachometer, no ac
