How do you tell what degree you are at as far as timing goes...

    Excellent, try after the car has had plenty of time to get hot.I like to wait for the cooling fan to go on.Then after it goes off, I shut off engine & ground STI and then set timing.I seem to get better results with a heat soaked engine.

      Funny you should say that. I had the car running while checking the rpms and the fan kicked on, so I disconnected and waited for the fan to shut off and then checked everything before it kicked on again.
