I tried cleaning the IAC using a method someone else on here used by soaking it in MMO.
Well after hitting it with some brake cleaner afterwards to get all the MMO out that I can, and blowing it dry with a air compressor, I installed it back on the car and lets just say the alternator REALLY hates it, it was making a real racket, almost like a combination of buzzing and a cooling fan, and was louder than the engine. If I unhook the electrical connection to the iac when the engine is running, the sound quiets down quite a bit, but still there and the sound note changes, and shutting off and restarting with it still unhooked and the sound is gone.
I think I fried whatever electrical thing inside of the IAC.
I am currently running the engine without the IAC, but this is not ideal as the engine runs kinda rough at idle when the headlights are on since there is no IAC to compensate, also the guerilla style way I plugged the vacuum lines is probably causing vacuume leaks.
But with the IAC deleted, and the TPS re-adjusted I can get the idle speed further down that before and runs smoother at those lower speeds, but still has issues.
