  • Crack Front brake pads, Why???

    Hi Guys:
Last weekend i did my front brakes( new hoses, new pads, new caliper rubbers, new pins, new rattle shims ect ect ect) and the axles( 4 new boots, clean and re-grease, and the seals) the car was braking great, but one of the axle boot was tear so i decided to do the due maintenance now that i was going to take everything apart. so i found that one of the pads was cracked and i cant figure out why??? any thoughts???

Cheaply made brakepads are my guess.

Not sure if you have autozone down there, but their Valuecraft brakepads are notorious for this.

Beck Arnley aren't too bad. But I would recommend just getting the Motorcraft replacement if it isn't too much more expensive for you.

are they the MOTORCRAFT BR-11 ? I can get Raybestos and Delco but i have never been able to motorcraft parts before... the local dealer never brought the Festivas, all Festis are imported from US as used cars... Neither the Aspires, Avellas and Prides...

Yes, the BR-11 or BR-11B will work. According to rock auto those are the 2 motorcraft pads avail and they are both premium semi-metallic.

Raybestos is a fairly good brand as well. If you can't get motorcraft try the Raybestos.

Thats not normal for sure,so my first thought is poor quality. Also if you dont push the piston far enough into the caliper. You can damage a pad if you try to force it onto the rotor. When it comes to Pads & Rotors I always opt for the Best ones I can find. Its worth the extra dough-

cheap brake pads suck. i ordered some online when i bought my jeep headlights, they were about 38 for the pair. they were put on about a month ago, and they shoot brake dust and squeal like the man in deliverance. ill just spend some more money next time and get some better quality ones.
