  • Window track problem

When I roll the windows up in my 92 Festie, they cock from front to back and I have to push pull and wiggle them around to get them open or closed..
I have been told there is some sort of nylon/plastic retainer that breaks inside the track.
Anyone have anything on this? I would like to have some sort of clue before I dig in.
    Thanks

A common problem with a fairly easy solution... Roll the windows down and spray the inside of the tracks with silicon lube. Worked really well on my car. I do it at least once a year on mine usually just before the cold weather sets in.

There is a set of plastic interface/connecting parts between the window and the regulator.
The pair takes two screws/bolts and has a integrated "shelves" to guide the window.
When the shelves break, the window will cant in its guides and jam.
I'll see if I can get you pics of these as I just got some out of a JY festiva.
FourGreen seems to be out of them, and no word if they will get more.
Wondering if there is a comparable Mazda part.

This will help, and if the plastic parts are not broke may well prevent the forces which cause the breakage.
But once the parts are broke it only gets worse.
Winter or Summer mine cants in the tracks when rolling up/down.

My Father-In-Law said he just used a 1/4-20x3/4 bolt to fix it. I am not really certain about this since I have not seen the inside of the door, but I thought I would ask all of the Festie folks about it. This problem is most certainly not a slide in the track kind of problem, but it is a good tip anyway. Looks like I will just have to dig into the door and try it out.

Thanks, but it isn't a slide up and down issue, but a canter issue. Hopefully this weekend it will stop raining enough for me to look into it.

It's possible that a sticky, binding track, usually the one at the front, will cause the glass to tip which in turn jams it.

I would suggest trying the lubrication route first. If it solves the problem then you don't have to take the door apart.

I spray some Armorall in the rubber track once in awhile, in fact you reminded me it's overdue.
