  • Non-Festiva Honda Crx No start

My 80s CRX won't start. It's getting fuel to the rail and it's also getting spark. The engine turns over and cranks but doesn't start.

engine sounds normal when trying to start.

    Any ideas?

    Distributor, or possibly ignition coil?

I'll admit I know very little about how the CRX was designed, but it sounds like an electrical malfunction. I'd start by cleaning every one of your grounds and checking the condition of your applicable transmission sensor be it a neutral safety switch or an equivalent for an automatic.

Apparently my friends got it to start on ether but it wpuld die in a few seconds. But then when I came we tried to start it on ether again but to no avail. Its an 86 or 87 crx with an 84 engine. 5spd manual.

I have had a lot of 88-91 crx's only had 2 87 si's I know on the 88-91 there is a fuel pump relay under the dash if your sitting in the driver seat reach down with your left hand and it's up in there it's black take it out has a plug on it on the back side if it's cracked you can solder it or go get another one from jy but if it's bad it will not run am not sure if the 86-87's had them but worth checking

The fuel pump wasn't working when i replaced it, and at the time I was stupid enough to foget about the main relay that you're talking about. So, I wired the fuel pump to an ignition switch and it works now. The fuel pump kicks in, I have spark..... but no start. It won't even start on ether. Couls this be the crankshaft sensor? Broken timing belt?

I was gonna say check timing belt. Easiest way is take the distributors cap off and crank the car.gif the rotor is turning then belt is good
