  • hard start when cool outside ?

my new festy starts great when its hot outside but when its cold outside, and not even that cold. ( it was 50 degrees this morning) and the car cranks and cranks before it starts. it does seem to help to pump the gas but I was told not to do this in a efi car. im afraid when next winter gets here I will kill the starter and battery trying to start it everyday. what should I look at or replace to fix this. now this might just be normal for some cars but my other festy fires up like the first crank every time. also I doubt this is related but the cat has been cut out of this car. are there any benefits of this or drawbacks?

Have you done a tune-up yet? Just wondering. When I got my '90 back a few years ago, I could crank and crank, put on new plugs wires cap rotor and boom. Doesn't even make one turn before it starts.

I think EFI + no cat is supposed to be +1 or 2 MPG. I've never had a cat on any of my cars.. :p I don't even know what they're used for, restricting the 63HP?

not yet it was on the list but I just wanted a few ideas if it might be something else. would not running a cat make the car sound louder? the reason I ask is because I doesn't really sound louder driving down the road but it seems like it idles very high. I don't have a tach so im not sure how many rpms it is idling

Correct, 64 or greater HP in a Festy has been scientifically proven to be too dangerous for most drivers.

High idle (assuming it's not just an exhaust leak noise) + hard start leads to the possibility of a vacuum leak somewhere. No cat makes car slighhhhttttly louder, but not much.

Also LOL Tom. This is true.
