  • automatic trans-axel fluid quanity

I was just wondering how much auto trans-axel fluid a 93 festiva holds from empty, or even better how much I should add after draining from the axel holes

2.6 qts. is probably the amount recommended to fill the tranny with.

2.6 quarts for the manual transaxle total

6.0 quarts for the automatic total

6 qts is only with a complete drain (remove pan and filter). From Axle drain, probably about half that.

cool, thanks, I'm putting the axle back in this weekend so I will take note of how much exactly it takes from the axle holes and tell everyone

I've been able to pull the CV shaft out without spilling a drop

Ok now I gotta ask, How? Just drop the pan and drain it first, pump the fluid out from the dipstick tube, or what am I missing here?

Oh ya, it took 3 quarts from the axle holes exactly (after starting the car and shifting it through low to reverse sequence to help expel air)

most likely he had the car jacked up high enough on the side he was pulling the one axel from to not spill any fluid.. either that or it was way low to begin with..
