  • cant sepperate piston from connecting rod

    just like it says im trying to install new pistons and reuse the rods but I cant get them off anybody know any tricks?

    heat them up! you can use several methods for this: i.e: put some engine oil in a pod and heat it up to 150-180C, place the piston-rod inside and let it sit for a while. Use some gloves and try to take them apart.
    Another method is with a torch but be careful not to heat the rod to the point that the rod changes color!
    And the most reliable: take them to a Shop! There they have specific tools to do the job right!

      The trick is to take them to a machine shop and have them push the wristpins out, they are a press fit.
      An idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.

        Most stocker pistons and many replacements, are press fit with heat.

        Pay a shop to do this they have a few special, high dollar, tools to get this done fast.

        Considering the basic speed an engine turns, even stock, this is something you don't want to get wrong because it can ruin a whole lot of dollars real quick!

            Yes it's a festy motor and the kit came from auto zone and thanks everyone I'll call the shop
