  • Head lights will not work...

Blue's headlights have suddenly stopped working. I replaced the fusible link and still nothing. The park lights work but not the head lights.

Is there any other common problem why the headlights are not working??

    Thanks

Check all of your grounds and connections for corrosion. I am fairly certain there is a relay for the headlights so you could check that too. If that all checks out it could be the headlight switch itself.

or maybe the bulb itself is already busted

The odds of both bulbs going out at the same time are VERY low. but its not impossible.

Also check the fuse box inside on the driver's side. I don't know what the fuses control and probably not just the headlights so may not be a fuse. I would also suspect the switch. I would try spraying WD-40 or contact cleaner into it.

The combination switch controls the power going to the headlights. Don't waste time with the fuse box. Get a 12V test light and follow the power. See if you get power to the headlight connector first. Then the combination switch. R/BL low beam. R/W high beam. Good luck.

I've had this problem it turned out to be the relay on the drivers side behind the headlight.
You can swap the running light relay for the head light to test it.
Running light relay is on the passenger side behind the headlight.

Thanks everyone, I will try Kozak's advise first!

I'm thinking I will have to rewire the headlights like I had to on Shadow.

It was the relay .... just a bad connection.

Could someone please post a picture of the headlight relay? My running lights and headlights are both inoperable. When I turn the switch, I can hear a click coming from under the dash inside the car so I believe the switch on the stalk is ok.

                            88-89 Festivas don't have a headlamp relay.
Headlight relay on 90-93 Festivas is right behind the l/h headlight.

is it the grey thing bolted to the flange on the inner fender?
