If the car was running on that ecu before it would stand to reason it should run on another ecu with the same number on it........

I don't know what will or won't work honestly, if you find where those wires were spliced (for the auto harness to work with a mt ecu) and fix them you should be able to use an auto ecu like stock, i don't know what will happen if you plug in an auto ecu with those wires spliced, maybe something, maybe nothing?!

I can't really help you here, there's so many things that could be the problem I don't want my words to be twisted or confused and start more he said she said stuff. I didn't say the ecu was bad to begin with I just inferred that if you think it's the ecu then replace it! If the fuse block on the fender melted together good enough to connect a positive to a ground to make a circuit on the battery strong enough to cause the battery to explode, anything is suspect.

If you connect + to - on ANY battery it will get hot internally, it could cause it to explode, i'm guessing that's what happened when the fuses melted together..

Thanks Matt! I will PM you or call you, if I need that ECU.

I'm just going through process of elimination. Since the coil is not the reason, I'm just trying to find the next possible cause why the car will not start/have spark. The ECU is my next choice. If the car still doesn't start/have spark when I replace it, then I will move on to the next possible cause.

I'm figuring the battery exploded because it was old. When I got home from Ohiostiva, a few days afterwards my battery in Shadow was dead. I charged it up and the battery was too hot to touch and it was bulging in areas. So I figure something internally in the battery that exploded went bad.

I got the ECU from the JY and its a B376, same one I pulled out. At the end of the week I will give it a try in Silver Streak and see if the ECU is/was the problem.

Of course, now that I think about it. Maybe the battery exploded because it has the wrong ECU in it?!? Hmmm? Can anyone collaborate?

Highly doubtful, the ecu has a mass of tiny resistors and pieces that aren't capable of handling loads big enough to turn on a light let alone kill a battery.

If somebody spliced together a positive and negative wire in an attempt to make the car start with the wrong ecu.....

Exactly, Except the car did run for 350 miles when I got it. It had an awful Oder in the car all the way home that would not go away.

Put the other ECU in I got from the JY and the car started right up. That problem solved.

Now I need to figure out why one of the valves is tapping bad. It didn't do that before all this happened.

Lifter probably just needs to pump back up, it hasn't been run in a while so all the oil probably drained out of a bad lifter, I am sure after a few minutes of running it will eventually go away. Or pop the valve cover off and try and find the bad lifter and just replace it.

Figured it out. A plug was hanging loose on the top back part of the engine. once I plugged it in it ran smooth again ...... Except for smoke coming out of the tail pipe. I remember now, it ate 2 quarts of oil when we drove it home 350 miles after I purchased it.

So it needs another engine. Anybody's recommendation of what engine I should put in an automatic without changing anything else??
