  • hmm ok this is probably not good

Noticed an oil leak this week.. front main seal on the B6.. what worse is that when I rev the engine it looks like the crank pulley is coming out about a 1/2" lower the rpms it goes back to original position. I checked the pulleys to make sure they were tight and flush still...

    hmmm what did I break?

sounds like you wiped the thrust bearing [part of the main bearings] . if the engine was used could have been abused - lot of speed changes , poor maintainence

it was a crate engine has about 35k on it.. speed changes, yes. Poor maintenance, no I have been pretty diligent about oil changes, etc.
I would assume it's been going for a couple of years, but adding the 2nd alt may have just sped up the process.. looks like the BP's getting closer to going in than I thought. :?

time, lol sure... parts, no.. still need mounts, ecu, wiring harness, exhaust and that's if I put it up against a Festiva manual trans.. plus since this is my daily driver, it means I need to get another Festiva roadworthy and legal before I can even tear it down.. In my job I drive at least 500 miles a week.. I am "on call" so when someone calls, I gotta fly. Now if I had a couple of Matts down here willing to help, it'd be different. Help seems to dissapear around here when work is involved..
