  • transmission bolts

just picked up a bp to swap in and wanted to do some work on the engine first it came with the transmission already separated and three bolts sitting in the tranny. I tried to screw in the bolts to the block but only one of them fit.

Are all three bolts the same?
Does anyone know the bolt size/thread count for the bolts that hold the tranny to the block?

    thanks

not sure since i don't have any of my festivas handy to look at but just from memory i think there are more than 3. i think 2 are installed low with the threads INTO THE TRANS CASE, first going through a stiffener bracket that was bolted to each side of the block. then i think there were at least 2 on top of the trans case that were threaded INTO THE BLOCK. it's certainly possible the threads and length are different between the upper and lower set. maybe some real mechanics here will be able to help out a newcomer.

Use your stock bolts, they should fit no problem
