  • Little heater hose

Is there a part number for the little hose that loops around between the head and the metal pipe on the front of the engine?

Its a small hose, seems like you cant just use hose because it kinks in the middle and wont flow.

I found one at Advance Auto. It was a generic cut-to-fit hose with the right bend built it. Probably any McParts store has it. Take your old one in to size it.

You can put a piece of steel brake line of the correct size inside the hose in the area of the bend and then bend the hose without having it kink. (Leave the brake line inside the hose and install) This idea credit to Arty aka Festyboy.

I disagree, crush nuts on the rear spindles are worse!
But at least that was addressed in the last year of production.

"This comes up a lot. Gates hose part # 18206 is a good replacement. A bit longer. Cut to fit." I searched and found this, there are other hoses that will work.

                      Replacement for little heater hose.

NAPA # 10182 can also be hacked to fit.

See photo next to original hose.

Once upon a time, I put a piece of standard heater hose on my car. I knew it would kink but I didn't have a suitable spring to put in it at the time - so I put a small screw hose clamp on the kink area before bending the hose all the way around. It kept the hose open, in more of an oval shape. Since I had it rigged and working (for over 50K mi.), I never did "fix" it. If you can find a suitable spring to use, then you can reuse it later, with standard cheap hose. Gates made a "hose shaping coil" (I don't know what they look like) you might get at an auto parts: #28514 - 1/4" ID hose (also #28516 - 3/8" ID hose). Partstrain.com had these a while back for $4.55 & $4.75 each. NAPA has some for something like $8 or more. I seem to favor the cheap universal spring idea myself.
When I'm good I'm very, very good and when I'm bad I'm HORRID.
