It's a catalytic converter "cat' for short. It is a part of your exhaust system just behind the tranny. The o2 sensor is that thingy on the front of your exhaust manifold. It too can wreak havoc if not working properly. The autos aren't as peppy as the manuals but by no means should be experiencing this. I have had one of my auto cars well over 90mph before.Last edited by Gomez; 06-22-2014, 09:19 PM.-Bryant

Towards his problem, I'd say fuel filter or cat (I had a really old filter when I bought my auto, it bogged pretty hard). Depending on if you have inspections in your state or not, have someone check if your cat is clogged. If so, just have the cat cut off and straight-piped; if you can find an exhaust shop to do it. Adds a few horsepower.
Also might run some Seafoam through your gas tank. Add most the bottle to a full tank of gas, and put the rest in a vacuum source. Google Seafoam treatment on Youtube. It might help.

Thanks people okay I'll get some one to check my c.a.t do I need a new exhaust if my O2 is stuffed? I will deff get a new filter tomorrow as it was raining heavy today! What you mean inspections how loud would it be if I get the cat taken out because if it's too loud it will draw unwanted cop attention to me and I'll get defected. I will get my mate to have a look if the cat is clogged unless I can do it somehow?? Yeah a shop down the road exhaust plus will do it for me. No worries I'll have a look at seafoam cheers! How do I check fuel pressure and no engine light is not on

When you get your cat checked out, they'll tell you what I mean I hope. In California and some other states, your emissions have to meet a certain range (here in Indiana they don't have inspections), thus requiring you to keep your cat to lower emissions. It doesn't make it much louder as long as your muffler is good.
O2 sensor is at the beginning of your exhaust system (it's the wire and bolt coming out of the front of your engine, at the exhaust manifold), and tells the computer what's going on, if you're getting too much fuel, ect. If the O2 is bad, it's about $15 I think to replace it, if you splice it in yourself. Though if the O2 sensor is bad, it will usually make the check engine light come on.
Good luck, sir.White '92 GL 5-speed BP, G series, Aspire/Rio swapped, "Nancy"

Thanks nitrofarm and I'm not sure if it was re-timed I hope so but it does idle high sometimes maybe it hasn't been. Cheers spike it's been raining quite heavy last couple days so I haven't been able to do anything just yet will keep everyone up dated as to what it was. Also I can't believe actually how good these little cars are on petrol soooo cheap where would I find a bigger carby for it? And a O2 senser if I need one ?
