So this is a new development. Whenever I bog the engine at all I get a weird metallic chattery clanky noise. Then is disappears as soon as it hits a thousand rpm or so. Think its pullys or lifters it what. Sucks.

Are you sure your not bogging it so bad that it is pinging, bad gas, poor timing.

Is the engine EFI or carb?
What engine are you running?

Sounds like It's pinging to me
Check timing and fuel quality. As Karl mentioned.
