  • B6T power drop question.

Just had so much luck with my last question thought id try a different car question. My swapped B6T (aka "the hotwheels") ran fine for the last 2 years no problems...until...now i get to around 4200 rpm full throttle and the thing falls flat on its face, (local mechanics no help) if i dont have the petal mashed and go gradually, it goes past the rpm drop no problem. (Has a BBK performance fuel pump). Internal waste gate spring? still not enough fuel pressure? electrical? Maybe a good thing, havent drove it since my last ticket

Sounds like your hitting the overboost cut out.

Start with the basics and give us as much information as you can. My B6T did something similar with a clogged fuel filter and bad ignition timing, so start there. What are your compression/vacuum gauges telling you about how the car is running?

EDIT: Which ECU are you using? 91 octane or higher? What level of boost?

Is 9 psi of boost too much? i havent adjusted anything from stock, thats what it shows before the snapping head backwards goes forward. embarrassing for giving rides!

Check the plugs probably need to be gapped. Also check the cap and rotor while your in there.

Stock ECU and 9lbs of boost should be just fine. Another thing to check would be boost leaks. Are all of your hoses and clamps up to snuff? Agreed with above as well... I found narrowing the gap on my plugs to 0.032" (advice from DamKid) helped with a little stutter I was mainly having on pick-ups and high boost.

Ya when i first built it i had a hose "pop" off. went out and bought turbonetics hoses and the fat clamps, had custom pipes bent. dont think i have a leak but it would make sense hmmm. ill try the plug gap at .32

You should lessen the gap for more boost. I use to run my b6t plugs around .28-.29
