help ! is this normal??? I had a new rebuilt manual rack installed and now steering is harder. I know the other one was totally shot, but the new one is so tight steering is noticeably harder and when you go around a corner it wont even straighten it self back out completely. I also had knew cv axles, control arms with ball joints and outer ball joints installed at the same time. The shop said drive it around some it will get better. have any of you had this issue after replacing the rack?? thanks for your replies in advance.

I have with non moog , trw or OEM ball joints. They did return to acceptable performance after a week or so. They will probably become worn out with in a couple years.
Your shop probably had one estimate with all OEM quality parts and one with parts house brand parts. The difference in price through a shop will be significant. Both will last a one year warranty period.
At least with the larger tolerance of close enough specs you got the tight side of things!Reflex paint by Langeman...Lifted...Tow Rig

Drive it for a little, things will break in. It's probably a combination of all your new tight parts and shouldn't last more than the first couple hundred miles.~Nate

It could be they didn't get the slack adjustment just right on it when it was rebuilt. I had that happen on one I installed on mine she was a bit tighter than I liked. To readjust it you can unbolt it from the firewall and lean over the engine to adjust it as the adjuster is on the back side at the firewall. However I'm older now and I just let my 18 yo son remove it and I taught him how to adjust one. Been fine for the better part of a year. I would suggest take it back to the shop and talk to them about it and express your concerns.90 L plus 180,000 miles and counting.
