  • 91 Festiva stops, will not start

91 auto Festiva, stops but will not start until it sits for a while. Put in new fuel injectors, catalitic converter. Has not solved problem. one person suggested a crank case sensor problem, another said it might be a distributer.

I would say that if you can get it to die and not start then take a plug wire off and use a spare plug or screwdriver and check if you have spark when it wont start. I would be willing to bet that you have a bad distributor. I am fairly sure that the Festiva doesnt have a crank sensor in the traditional sense but it has a crank/ cam sensor in the distributor for timing the ignition pulses.

I used to get that with a failing ignition module (inside distributor on my car). Module heats up and electronics fail until
module cools down. Like the man wrote, I'd check igniton.
