an idea to test my coolent system

I was sound asleep and this idea just hit me. cut the bypass valve off of the rad cap so it only has the main seal. Drill a hole and put a schrader valve in it. Attach the hose to the overflow to a preasure guage. Pump it up to 14 psi and watch the guage to see if it holds preasure... should be great for leak testing and head gasket testing right? any improvements any one can think of or any thoughts of it are welcomed...

Why don't you just buy a leak tester?

cause autozone doesn't have one with the adapters to fit my radiator...
