The easiest way is to cut out the bad line and just replace with hose and slip it over the steel ends and clamp it. Just make sure you get high pressure fuel hose.

Ya some idiot at Auto Zone sold me the wrong tube earlier this year. He sold me vac line. I even asked him if this was the right stuff and he assured me it was. Well 3 miles down the road the line blew out and here I was under my dads 2000 ford ranger on the side of the road dropping the gas tank so that I could repair it.....just make sure it is the right hose....it was not a fun thing to do

I have used steel line and just left the old line where it is and cable tied the new line to the old line. I just used hose to splice in the new line. be careful not to disturb other lines if they are right next to the gas line, if the are rusty the could start to leak and you'll find yourself replacing all the lines!
