  • car idles good but stalls when you try to go unless warm???

    93 auto
I saw this somwhere here befor but cant find it when i serch.
I am thinking some sort of sensor problem but where do i start??
car starts good like it always did but when it is cold or the first time i drive it in the morning it stall out when i give it some gas.
if i leave the car idleing fot 15 minutes it will run fine.
if the car is at running temp all is well and there is no stalling .
sorry if this has been addressed but i looked and found nothing.

try starting with the coolant temperature sensor on the passenger side intake manifold.

the O2 sensor doesn't start working, under normal operating procedure, until the engine gets hot and over 600 degrees.

      is the engine light on???????

        no engine light .
this sensor you speak of is not the one in the coolent inlet??
I will look tonight at the one you say .
can i test it or do i just buy a new one??

the sensor in the thermostat housing is for the radiator fan and the one next to it is for the inside gauge

and it is easier to just replace it, but you can check it with an OHM meter and cold and very hot water , and a Haynes manual ( a must have for anyone who has a Festiva)
