  • 1.3l engine belt help

If anybody has any pictures, diagrams, or whatnot of how the belts are arranged on the passenger side of the engine, that would be swell. There are 3 pulleys that are not hooked up to anything and I think this Festy may be missing a belt but I am not sure. I just got this and I have been fixing quite a few things on it to get it to actually get me places. It runs fine and it starts strong so its working but it just seems strange that there would be some unused pulleys. I have made a short Youtube video showing what I am asking about. http://Youtu.be/q_PTEkJ-jZc It concerns me that this area is not in use.

One belt goes around the crank pulley, water pump pulley and alternator pulley. A second belt goes around the crank pulley and A/C pulley. You can google diagrams.

Sounds like your car has ac with out the ac belt.
The other belt runs the water pump and Alternator.
With out this belt your car would over heat and would not charge.

^ im slow lol he beat me to it

Yes....if you have A/C there will be a tensioner pulley as well.

It must be the AC compressor then that is not hooked up to anything. I do have the belt that is around the alternator, crank, and what can only be the water pump. There is a space where there is supposed to be a hose of some sort hooked up to it. Do you know where the other end of that hose is supposed to run?

If you are referring to the water pump near the pulley we talked about, there is an 1-1/2 hose that goes from the water pump to the lower radiator inlet.

You are correct about the AC compressor not being hooked up. The hose you refer to in the vid at 1:06 is part of the AC system.

I would highly suggest you get a factory service repair manual. It will have a LOT more information than a typical Haynes repair manual.

Being it's getting winter time and you're in Minnesota, AC really isn't a priority at this time.

              Just my 2˘.

Thank you all very much for the quick replies. I tried to look online for the answer and in my owners manual to see if there was any info but I couldn't find anything for some reason. I figured the best place is to join a forum with other people who have the exact same car. Glad to be on here!
