engine knock

I have a 1991 festiva it has a knock on the left side of the engine dosent sound like the lifters. i noticed some other people has this issue. has any one figured out what it is yet i was told it was a piston slap but it dosent go away when engine warms up. any thing yall can tell me would be appreshated.

Get one of the stethoscopes for auto diagnostic. id check all the different areas of the engine for where its the loudest then go from there

today i changed the lifter then i pulled all the pullys and checked them and timeing belt tenchioner so i guess it is piston slap.but thank you for your reply i got a stethoscope its the loudest in the middle of oil pan. nothing in their loose either
