Yours is an issue with the illum wiring on the cluster itself.

Also if we are on the subject of cluster lights, my brake warning lamp only come on in the start position, NOT when the e-brake is on Car running or not does not matter and it doesn't light if the key is to the "on" position... it has done this on 3 clusters, so I don't think it is the cluster
easy one; The brake warning lamp 'proves out' when the engine is cranked, so it should come on then. That shows the lamp is functional. Since the lamp doesn't come on when the park brake is applied, that indicates an issue with switch on the brake lever, or its wiring. Very often, the switch on the lever gets dirty, and won't close and make contact when the lever is pulled. Pull the console around the lever and ground the wire on the switch, the light should come on.

It's an open barrel crimp, and it's not sealed well. Over the years, corrosion starts to build in the splice, causing an intermittent, and temperature sensitive circuit fault.
Jim, this sounds like the issue I described in my 1st post. Can you tell me where I might find the open barrel crimp to try and do a fix?

          According to my EVTM,

S208, wire color R/GN, location at T/O for ECA C242

          S stands for splice
          C stands for connector
I am guessing T/O stands for take off
C242 is located at the left dash panel at ECA (three connectors)

Wiggle that and see what happens.

I can't check for that. I thrrew out all of my ECA wiring including everything attached to those three connectors.

Thanks Dan. I will look into it and see if that fixes it!

I just wanted to add my cluster craziness. The cluster buzzer won't stop buzzing even with the car running and the tach won't move! And that is one annoying buzzer to tolerate when driving at night!

You will have to remove the cluster and perform an operation. Good luck doctor. Your patient is counting on you.

I was having trouble with the tach bouncing , th lights not comming on all the time & the fuel guage not working.
I removed the cluster & cleaned all the pins on the back with sand paper.
                    Made them all shiney.
                    It fixed all the problems.
                    It may work for you.
If it don't fit, use a bigger hammer!
