Can any one tell me about the EFI on the 88 and 89 model festivas. I have a89and a 91 just can't seem to get the 88 to run right I've had it in a lot of shops and no one can figure it out.

Check your compression on all 4 cylinders and report back. Factory specs are around 200 PSI. Once this has been confirmed, we can help you move forward.

In the US, the 88 festiva didn't have EFI, it was carbureted.

All cylinders are around 95 psi. It has 88 on the the title and 89 on door sticker it seems to have a miss to it runs rough. I have changed every senior on it and put 4 new air flow seniors on it from Orilies I changed 3 computers still no change I bought a aspire and fixing to put the engine out of it in but just hoping I don't have the same problem. It dies soon as you put it in drive or reverse. But dose great as for running on the highway.

That is very low compression. Can you give us the procedure you used for checking it?

well it was me and one of my friends but we thought it was supposed to be around 125 psi.that car has always been weak drop it in gear and it dies and when you turn the ac compressor on it will kill the engine.i was wandering if that was the cause of it going dead. it sit for years.

Put a squirt of oil in each cylinder and recheck. If the pressure goes up, your rings are worn. Even 125 is low and could have trouble at low idle.

ill try that i have heard the 88 and 89 EFI was tough to work on and fix some how its different from the 90 and up. i had a terriable time trying to find a mass air flow that would work on it. got 4 new ones from orlies.1 from a junk yard and finally bought a festiva with a bad engine and the one off it finally worked right.
