  • anybody an expert on ESCORT brake system?

need to know which port on a 92 ESCORT proportioning valve goes to the REAR DRIVERS SIDE brake. if you can, describe which port this is looking at the firewall.
spent my xmas chasing a leak in the hard line. after 2nd slice, another weak point burst. finally decided to replace whole line. this info is impossible to find. it's not even in the factory manual and the piping diagrams are useless. on the car all piping converges under a skid plate and into the gizzards of the engine making it very difficult to trace.

One possible way to trace it: check the continuity by attaching a wire to the hard brake line near the drivers rear brake. Attach the other end of the wire to one of your electrical meter's wires. Then with the meter set to continuity, touch the other wire on your meter to the different brake lines at the prop. valve. Hopefully only one will give a continuity beep.

I'm not sure this will work, but if it does it would be really easy to do. The issue would be grounding--i.e. they might all make a beep on the meter, due to being directly connected to the body.

ya i thought of that too but its all metal to metal to metal. narrowed it down to the 2 ports coming off the right of the valve.

Well one of them should be easy to trace to the driver front. One to the pass. front. Two to the MC. So what you are unable to tell apart is the two going to the rear?

Most likely they are next to each other, and do not cross each other when going to the rear; i.e., the one on the right (as you are looking at the firewall) goes to the driver rear, the one on its left goes to the pass. rear. Should be a safe bet.

In the process of replacing it, you will have to remove whatever is covering its route to the rear, so should be able to tell which is which. GL.
