  • BP Swap issue. Coil not firing

Hey guys. The fellow that bought my BP swapped car is having an issue and needs our help. It is a 93 Protege BP. Protege ecu and coil I think. He was pulling out of the driveway and it just quit. After searching for an issue, he found the ignition fuse under the hood was blown. Replaced it and was able to get it to crank. There is no spark after the coil but he says the coil is getting power. McParts store guys are saying it's the module in the distributer and probably not the coil.

Does anyone have a clue what it may be? Thanks in advance for all your help. The guys forum name is shawnj43055.

hmm. Long shot here but i had a no spark issue with my donor protege before i pulled it, replaced everything i could think of. Turned out the timing belt had stripped off a bunch of ribs and wasn't spinning the cam gears and therefore not the distributor.. Anyways thats my long winded way of telling you to double check that the distributor is actually spinning.
also, i think the festy and protege coil are the same part, maybe you could swap yours with his to verify.
if i had to guess i'd say distributor as well, if the coil has juice but wont discharge its probably not getting its signal from the dizzy to fire.
        good luck.

Did you check the switch itself has power out on ignition and accessory? It cranks so at least has power into it.

Yes the relay was clicking and Yea we checked the ignition switch. Thinking a wire has a short somewhere. Onto a few leads.

Make sure the dizzy is turning . And check all the grounds . Make sure you have power to all the fuse links , and make sure all fuses are good .
New build on the way .
