  • Rally car wiring

I decided to make a thread because I'm going to have a few wiring issues I foresee. And I'll go ahead and start my first issue is I relocated the battery to the back of the car and I'm trying to find what the battery positive terminal hooks into I have the cable wire to the engine but I don't know where the post goes. Does the positive terminal hooked directly into the starter or is there another wire that I'm missing?

My next issue is 3 wiring the dash has anybody else noticed that the pig tails for different items such as turn signals or wipers completely change car to car?

The harness and the initial car are from the same year as well so I ruled that out but I'm still having issues because the wires of those pigtails are completely switched around

1)Positive terminal goes directly to the starter
      2) I believe you need to tie in the harness that came with the BP of the car it came from. I have not yet done a 1.8 swap so I am not positive.

Have you read the BP swap guide? Your answer may lie in the swap guide found in the sticky section.

EDIT: I looked at the BP swap guide, evidentially the guide is gone on there from the 1st post, but there is some posts that may help, look at post's #90 and #91 and on. Some members had Q's and got A's in thread posts.

There it is said that modifying the Festy harness, by replacing plugs is easiest

The swap parts aren't what's holding me up here, I've got that guide downstairs lol, what's really holding me is the + battery cable, since I've moved the battery and started re wiring i can't seem to find all the parts it plugs into, I figure there's going to be one heading straight to the starter motor, then another going to..... Main relay? Idk

The cable goes to the one in your pic that does not have any wires on it now. You will notice that one of the big posts has a wire on it already, coming out of the starter. The other one is the one to put the cable on.

Ok I have that figured out now. Now i have a different issue.

What color wires under the dash of a 92 connect to which part of the key, I have found the one for start, but i still have Acc and ON to connect. I've looked through the diagrams and theres a lot of "hot in run" or "hot in run or start" but i do not have colors for those. when connecting the key.

I guess what im asking is. What does the pigtail look like that connects the key start?
