  • Pinch bolt

After beating the life out of my old steering knuckle pinch bolts I figured I better get some new ones. The problem is I can't find any. Anybody have any idea where to get them. Also does rock auto sell the bushing for the sway bar that go under the radiator?

You can use any 10mm bolt that is long enough. I replaced mine with a grade 10 (hard) bolt and new nut. Any part store with a good selection of bolts will do.

          Sway bar insulators

You can find sway bar insulators at many auto parts stores. Get the ones for 22mm diameter sway bar (assuming there are for Festiva and not Aspire).
You can also order them from Amazon or on ebay. It appears that the kit number for 22mm diameter is 9.5158.
See Energy Suspension for kit numbers related to diameter.

I have not used these myself but I believe there are other members on the forum who have.
Maybe a member who has used them will chime in to promote or criticize them.
You might want to do a search on the forum using "energy suspension" to find comments about them.

when you go to buy new bolts do like drddan suggested, also you should buy shoulder bolts that extend past the ball joint cutout, using an all thread bolt will work for awhile but in time the movement of the ball joint will wear on the threads, then when you least expect it the LCA will pop out and leave you stranded, I do have pictures.

You'll notice the stock pinch bolt has a groove to accomodate the shaft on the top of the ball. You could try putting a groove on the new bolt
using a half round file. Position of the groove would be important. I was surprised to read bolts without the groove are being used and work okay.

Groove is actually around the ball joint stem and not on the pinch bolt. Do yourself a favour and either get the real thing from a Kia dealer, wrecker or a specific high strength metric fine thread bolt that is not threaded where it contacts the ball joint groove. This bolt should slide in with hand pressure only and capture the ball joint groove. If you have to pound on it at all with a hammer you are not aligned with that groove; a common mistake that will come back to bite you in the long run. If in doubt look through the hole with a light and move the ball joint up and down until the ball joint groove is aligned with the hole.

I got these swaybar to body bushings and I love them. Dead ringer for the original and fit right into the original bracket. SuperPro SPF1478-22K (22mm inner dia), Source @ Energy Suspension Sorry, I posted the link wrong. Search "compiled bushing list". You will find a link straight to them.

Hey guys on the bolt that goes through the body and into the control arm is there any other way to keep it from backing off besides double nutting it or a tack weld? The one with the capture nut. Of course both of mine broke loose and I had to end up cutting the bolt to get it out.

the ford bolt is obsolete. 4GREEN might have the pride bolt but the only domestic availability is from mazda. B001 34 098
