  • e brake light staying on

okay so as of the other day both my festiva's e brakes were both working fine and the indicator light on the dash worked correctly. on my way to work my car blew a radiator hose and the e brake light came on and has not went off since. here is the weird part the battery in my other festiva kept dying on me so I took the battery out of the festiva that just blew a rad hose and when I turned the car on the e brake light in that one is staying on also. now a week later both of my festivas e brake lights stay on all the time. can anyone tell me y?

    Possibilities:
    1. Somehow you have pissed God (or John/Pu241) off. Make an appropriate sacrifice to get back in His/Her/Its good graces.
    2. You have inadvertently slipped into a parallel universe where e-brake lights do this normally. In your new universe, the e-brake light is somehow electrically connected to the rad hose, hence the issue. Somehow, though, you are still able to communicate with our universe. An interesting property of the Internet that needs to be looked into. Make sure you are not in the universe where Spock has a goatee; that's a sucky one.
    3. Coincidence. For some reason, on both your cars the e-brake cable is not fully retracting when you take the brake off. Maybe a frozen e-brake pivot or adjuster mechanism inside one or more brake drums on both cars. Also check for rust issues where the cable splits from the one on the handle into the two going into the drums; maybe it's seized up there. If so, try squirting some PB Blaster on it.

Have you checked the brake fluid? Low brake fluid will make the light go on as well.

Too simple. I like my answers 1 and 2 better.

So I'm getting that it's not really an e-brake warning light, it's just a brake warning light for low fluid? Or are there two lights pertaining to the brakes?

Just one light for both low fluid and PARKING brake.

Gotcha; so maybe he's just mis-diagnosed the issue and it's low fluid. I'll bet he now has all the answers he needs to straighten it out.

Thx I'll check the fluid on both cars. But it would be a striking coincidence if that were the case

If that's a coincidence, then you are very unlucky and should refrain from purchasing Mega Millions tickets for the next fifteen draws, or until my multidraw ticket expires.

Coincidences do happen. It's more likely to be that than putting one battery into the other car caused the problem. But if it is not fluid loss, don't forget my answers 1 and 2.
