Potential starter troubles?

Festiva ran fine for 3 months, one day it started, ran for about 10 minutes, turned it off, came back outside tried to start, wouldn't start. Was unable to find the problem and has now sat in -10~40 degree weather for going on 5 months. Engine won't even move an inch. need help with 2 things:
1) diagnosis hopefully? x.x
2) how to remove/text starter

this is a 91 festiva b3 engine auto

( new fuel pump/sock, new fuel pump relay, all fuses are fine, EGI fine. )
any help greatly appreciated x.x

Does it crank? Have you checked grounds? Does the starter click when you try to start?

does not crank. Grounds have been cleaned. Starter does click when i try to start

After that long of sitting I wouldn't be surprised if the battery was almost dead. Is it fully charged?

Simple check. Is the ENGINE fuse good? Fusible links O.K.?
Is the inertia switch down and not popped up?

bought new battery, old battery was litteraly froze. Engine fuse is fine. other links are fine. Inertia switch down and not popped up yes.
( new battery is properly and fully charged )

Try a new starter then. Easy enough, if it doesn't work.....take it back and get your money back.

any tips or tricks on removing the starter, tried yesterday and it seemed like it had a bracket holding the bracket to make sure i cant get the bracket off....

Take bracket off. Or just bend it out of the way.....take starter out. Don't forget to disconnect battery.

Starter tested fine, im at a loss

I bet it's a ground then. Triple check, then determine what exactly is clicking. When I put mine together I missed a ground and the clicking was coming from under the dash

do you have any specific grounds( their location )? ive found 7 in the engine bay and 4 on the interior.

Are your dash lights coming on when the key is in the run position?

dash lights, head/brake lights, radio, fan motor too

Put the starter back on short positive battery cable at starter to small solenoid lead with a quarter or a screwdriver.Make sure you are in neutral.If it cranks you have a bad switch at the clutch pedal,a bad ignition switch or a bad exciter wire to the solenoid.Jump across the clutch switch with a paper clip if it starts it's a bad safety switch.At that point if it isn't cranking you need to check the electrical part of the ignition switch if it is good you are going to have to find the break in the wire.My money is on the clutch switch(manual trans)or neutral safety switch (auto )You can jump around the neutral safety switch just like the clutch switch.Good luck
