how hard is it to remove hatch glass?

  • #2
Pain in the a$$. I used all my screwdrivers and my buddies to pry the rubber out. We went from the inside and pried the rubber and pushed the glass out. Much easier with a hammer . Find a new rubber gasket from FMS or the junkyard and then just cut yours out.

or even better try to find a complete hatch.
i guess its easier to repaint than to swap the glass.

I called all the junk yards in my area till I found one the same color as mine (Red).
Then drove to the junk yard with my hatch off and put the new hatch on in the junk yard.
Got mine for $125, but that was 10 years ago.

just go to a glass shop.
they are skilled in this area.
took me 3 days and many bandaids to remove my glass on my escort years ago .
when i bought my new glass for my van they put it in and it took them less than a couple of hours.
these guys have heated tools and stuff that we will just not have to get the job done.
worth a call to see whats up.
