This worked very well with a constant 175 PSI, I used it once just to see if it would work like my pro stuff. Very annoying however! A cheap air compressor may not have enough CFM to pull good vacuum.
This way you know all the old stuff, any air and any humidity is removed. We have no idea where you are at with those three things.
A full charge such as this is necessary when a part charge does not work just to get to the point where the system can be tried out.
We go to school for AC, spend 4 years as an apprentice before we can get a journeyman's card. Or two years in school will get you an Associate degree certifying you know all about AC. Or two hours lets you take a few ASE tests and you come out certified as well. Tool and I ( and others on here ) have spent the time to learn in schools, get degrees, get the experience and confidence to repair these systems every day. You should not feel bad if your first try did not work. If you want to push on we are here.
That little home pump will need some home gauges as well. Here is a set of cheap home type gauges.
