  • [NON FESTIVA] VW fuel system piece?

I was trouble shooting a fuel system problem on my vw, and came to the conclusion that this piece gets fuel into it, but doesn't put any out. I've never seen something like this and was hoping someone here has.

In Bosch fuel injection systems that is called a fuel distributor. Description: component in continuous

injection systems (CIS) that houses the control plunger and the differential-pressure valves. All metering takes place in the fuel distributor.

Out here it seems that the control pressure regulator fails far more often.

As a VW owner you may want to get this book: [How To Understand, Service, and Modify] Bosch Fuel Injection & Engine Management, by Charles O. Probst, ISBN 0-8376-0300-5, Robert Bently Publishers. This is the engineer/writer who wrote some great books on Ford Fuel Injection also. This is around 200 pages of theory, troubleshooting, servicing, and components for various continuous and pulsed injection systems.
