  • clunk sound when starting from a stop

I still cant pinpoint this sound. When i take off from a stop, it clunks, i can feel it in the floorboard, and sounds like it coming from the front driver side. Sometimes when i go over big bumps i can barely hear it. It also disappears for days at a time. It came back tonite. I cant figure it out. Ive checked the balljoint, and even though the boot is ripped up, i took a crowbar to it to check for play and it didnt move a bit. The clunk is worse when im turning right, usually making a left turn from a stop i will hear no sound. Maybe swaybar, but i couldnt detect any play or any damage to the bushing other than it looks old and dry... HELP PLEASE!

Mine does that too ,but not all the time , it is worse when turning right ,like into a parking lot ,Loud bang /snap you can feel in the whole car , I just checked my ball joints too and tie-rod ends ,they look OK ,
But I lubed all the suspension bushings at the back wher the control arm attatches to the frame ,and I lubed the sway bar at all the bushings , I have not heard it yet , I do know that I have a CV joint on the drivers side that is a little dry , that will be replaced soon .

On my car it ended up being the upper strut mount or strut bearing or whatever you want to call it

Do you know of a way of testing the strut to reproduce the clunk?

Mine would do it when I would be making turns into a drive way or parking lot at low speed and the tighter the turn the harder the clunk would be when it came.
