I have to open and close the door 2-3 time somtime to get it to open to let me out but only on the driver's side... common problem for theis cars as they get old?

Might want to check your door switch. Sounds like it's dirty or corroded.

General forum isn't a catch all section

        Thread moved

        1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
        1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

No. The push switch on the body is for the dome light only. The door latches have a door ajar sensor wired into the latch. Make sure your latch is clean.

I removed my auto belts and substituted manual belts. I wired my door ajar sensors into my Viper power lock/alarm system. doors automatically lock five seconds after starting engine/immediately unlock after turning ignition off + alarm goes off if door is opened without using the Viper remote to unlock the doors and disarm the vehicle. I knew those sensors were good for something.

I ha e the problem that I have to open/close/slam the door - not for the latch to catch, the latch is perfect- the seat belt just doesn't go. Where is the sensor and would I have fudged it when we'll lubing the door latch?

WD-40. It's a Water Dispersant which is good if there is moisture in there causing a short.

I sprayed Liquid Wrench Lock and Hinge Dry Lube. Which is odd as it looked wet to me. - Is this an awe-Dang! moment? Did I screw something up or will just enough WD40 dry it up?

I have a dry graphite spray which is wet going on. I suspect the graphite is in solution to carry it into crevices and other tight places with a volatile liquid which evaporates fairly quickly leaving the graphite behind.
