  • Charcoal cansister

The charcoal cansister on my 93 has 3 hoses going to it. Two at the top and one big hose at the bottom.

The bottom hose looks to be broken off. But I cannot find the other end of the hose.

Were those the bottom hose go to?

    Thanks

    David

Most likely to the fuel vapor separator beside your fuel filler hose.

Sorry, I don't have a charcoal canister any more, or a fuel vapour separator.
They must have fallen off somewhere.

I have the carburetted model. All the hoses come out the top of the cannister. The large diameter hose goes to a large diameter port at the back of the engine block where it's hard to see anything and impossible to take a photo. On your car I'd look for a large diameter hose there. My carburetted engine has a whole lot of vaccum hoses back there but most of them are smaller diameter so it might be easy to locate the large diameter port for your car.

Brave: Surprised your car passes Ontario emissions test with stuff missing. Good to know.

Special exemption. Car purchased in U.S. without engine. The Drive Clean office in Markham said O.K. to twin carbed B6 and gave me a wide spec for a 1985 engine.

Those darn things were not installed any better than 80's air pumps!

the vac routing diagram for the EFI doesn't show that hose going to anything. maybe it's just atmospheric relief so the cannister doesn't go into vacuum when the purge happens?

Just went out and looked at my Festiva that Iv'e owned since it had 90K on it and it just has a piece of straight hose about one and a half inches long that just goes straight down and is not connected to anything on the other end. Aspires are the same but use a longer hose.

Looks like F3BZ was right on, this seems similar.

Thanks everyone. I wonder if went anywhere. Only question it because the end of the hose looked to be broken off.

                    Thanks again
