so after removing back seat, pass seat, replacing driver seat with a 15 pound seat instead of OE seat, all carpet and back seat belts, fuel doesn't get sent up from tank anymore, any ideas as to why?, jumped the fuel pump using 12v lines, worked just fine, is there a safety switch incase of massive weight lose? cleaned up a good 400 pounds.

There is a switch on the left side next to strut tower. Its a fuel shutoff in case of accident. It's between the strut tower and the hatch.

What you described sounds like maybe 100 pounds. All four seats together weigh about that much, minus the lighter driver seat, and carpet doesn't weigh all that much. Maybe 5-10 lbs. I can't think what you could have removed to drop a lot of weight, and still have a functional car. Even the roof is pretty light; I know because I removed one when I chopped up Matthew. Quite the learning experience. I think you'd have to drastically chop stuff off, like everything behind the rear wheels, pull the hatch, doors and all windows to have a chance at dropping 400 lbs.

check the fuse box? do you hear the pump come on? I have a mechanical pump so don't hear the electric pump start but I've read here a few times that when you turn on the ignition or start the car or something you can hear the electric pump come on.

For everything I removed from the car, I replaced with an equal amount of weight.

It's amazing how light the stick parts are. The hood, doors, hatch. I don't think you would be saving any by changing to fiberglass. There is some weight in the dash support.

On a bicycle every pound saved in the wheels is worth weight pounds saved in the frame.
For the Festiva I'd use 12" worn tires on 12" aluminum rims, if they made 12" aluminum rims.
And try to get rid of the heavy steel brake rotors on the front.

I want to ditch my heavy 15's for the track go back to 12's when it used to be fast

if you're not too concerned about the safety aspect, removing the front and rear crash beams and styrofoam that the bumper covers mount to has to be good for at least a 50lb weight reduction. and that's at the very ends of the car which i think should be a benefit to handling, especially quick changes of direction. you'd still have to find a way to re-mount the covers though. maybe some light sheet metal brackets.

I've done this after the last time I got smashed it bent my support all to crap. I removed the metal and kept my painted bumper. I keep my fingers crossed it doesn't get smacked again before I get my new bumper support in. I just used self tappers to reattach the cover.
