Replacing the ball bearings in a half shaft

Okay I know its easier to just replace the half shaft, but the festiva Im picking it up from festivagt lost the bearing in the drivers side half shaft, and the half shaft is stuck in the tranny. I heard I could fix the bearings? Anyone know how fesable it is.

I've pulled them apart and replaced the race and bearings, but not while they are in the tranny.. I mean just to get it apart you have to have it at a certain angle and even then it can be a pita..

Are you talking about the joint near the tranny or the outside joint? If it is the outside joint, I've done one like you would have to do. If it is the inside joint I can't help you.
