  • fuel pump replacement?

    how do you do it? i dont know much about the mechanics of these cars yet, will i have to drop the tank?

    Its easy, there is an access panel under the rear seat. Flip seat up, pull back carpet and you'll see it!

          Between the two Festivas I've owned I've logged about 300,000 miles and have never had to replace one. They must be pretty good!

            The FI cars have the pump inside the fuel tank and there should be an access cover in the cargo area.
            On the carb'ed cars, the pump is bolted to the back of the engine. Just did this to mine Monday. Flip back the air filter housing, remove two bolts and three hoses. Took about 30 minutes total... 10 minutes to actually change the pump and 20 minutes spent looking for the D*** mounting bolt that fell and somehow became lodged in a u-joint in the steering linkage! :evil:

              just be sure to relieve the system pressure first. just pull the efi fuse and crank the engine and idle till it stops.
