No power

We replaced a defective alternator and bought a new battery. It ran fine for 3 days then died today. What else could it be? Thanks.

Marla , where are you having your work done ,and what kind of battery did you get , It is possible there is still a problem with your alt. or a bad battery .

It would be helpful if you had more information about your car and trouble. For all we know you could be out of gas, that is why we need more information to try to help out.

Check the fusable link wire on the driverside eng compartment. maybe its corroded.

No power

Well, we put the alternator in ourselves. It wasn't too hard and had the old alternator checked before we replaced it. They said the old one was cracked and had oil in it.

We bought a new battery at Sears in February before we put the new alternator in. It still didn't start. After we put the new alternator in, the car still didn't start. We took the battery back to Sears, and they said it was bad and replaced it for free since it was still under warranty.

With the second new battery, the car started and ran for 3 days before my husband left the lights on all night. It ran shortly the next morning then died. We recharged the battery, and it started fine.

We let it sit for a day, and the battery died again, which was today. We recharged, it started fine, turned it off, it started fine, turned it off, it started fine.

We let Sears' computer pick the battery for us and assumed it was the right one.

Where is the fusible link wire on the driver's side compartment?

We live in Santa Cruz County, CA.

The car has gas.

Any ideas anyone besides the fusible link?

You may have found a batch of bad batteries .
Once you have the car running take it to a reputable shop and see if it is charging to spec , if it is OK then have them load test the battery .
I am sure Sears has said they have done all that . but I would not let them check the battery in my POWER WHEELS JEEP !! :lol:
I am not sure what kind of a charger you are using ,but it needs to charge at least 12 hours if it was completely dead , after leaving the lights on till dead .
There is such a thing as bad-new batteries .
I see them getting returned all the time at Wally's world :lol:

here in lees summit the best place for batteries are at walmart me and my dad have bought batteries from advance auto, orileys, napa and even sears all have shot craps after a month dad finally bought one from walmart and were still using it after 5 years lol, just my experiance but yes there are bad batches of bats and any eletrical parts acutally, just my .02

did the battery crank weak when it went dead??

maybe you got a bad alternator, and your running your car off of the battery until it runs out off charge. Possible you have a bad ground also in your car draining the battery......

packrat is right on his point. i left my lights on and jumped started it and let it idle for about 5 minuts and that was enough to restart it but letting it sit overnight it would not start the next morning so i jumped started it again and drove it for about 45 minuts and had no problem since.

I can't complain about my weathercraft from Rexx battery , It looked past dead when I bought the car 3 years ago, I just replaced it last month .
I have had 5 batteries in the Caddy in 3 years from Wallmart (MAX78)
They just keep replacing them .They have 3-4 returned everyday .

I am not sure how many battery mfg's there really are , but I know 1 company supplies many different store brands , same battery ,different sticker on it .
