I doubt it. I used to have a Weber. Pretty much the same acceleration but the Escort gets up around 115 MPH> Weber wouldn't.

Or twin SU's, or CD Strombergs, too true! Provides the best, broadest power band. (Sweet set-up!)

Running a Weber on top a B6, still around 39 mpg. No ECU

    EEEWwwww !!!!
The ECU is where the mileage comes from!

IIRC check valve in the pump may have failed....

I love my Escort carb but if you are in a hurry you could get a rebuild kit and try replacing the accelerator pump. Four screws on the back of the carb. Might get it running right again. I didn't have any big problems with my original carb, but it turns out the Escort carb is way faster! You don't want to rush the project though. It will take time to get an adapter from Rocketman, and you will want to shop around before you pull the trigger on an Escort carb. You have to think about how to hook up the throttle linkage, the choke, and the fuel line. Vacuum advance is the easiest part. Good luck!

There are many threads on here about the Escort Carb.
You will also need a adapter, one of the Fourm members makes them.

I've lost brain cells because of this. The stock carb is a bear. Never worked the same after I messed with it.

Yor fuel comes back from carbuerator to tank because of corroded fuel hoses or maybe
    faulty fuel pump

Have you ever checked fuel level in the bowl on mornings?

The pump works fine once it has been started, and not let shut down more than a few hours. After siting over night there's no fuel coming from the accelerator pump.

Escort carb? any other details (year? model? Does it just bolt up?) Definitely having a good old fashioned one vacuum line, (maybe none) no electronics carb, sounds puurrfect to me.
    Thanks,

it might be from your fuel pump not carburetor,or maybe there is a leak from bowl to inside of carburetor because of faulty nozzles ,or outside of carburetor form the bowl gas level checking glass.
