I had one this summer that was out of round and it shook the car real bad at 60 mph.
I took the car to have the wheels balanced and when the guy put the right front on the balance machine you could see that is was out of round as it was spinning.
Swapped that one tire with one from my parts car and the vibration went away.
I don't doubt the possibility that all the rim and tire sets, had at least one that may be the culprit, but I think that's a slim possibility, but if it's a possibility I'll have check it out.1992 Festiva GL 1.3L

Update:
I took the Festy out for a bite to eat, windows down no radio, so I could listen for noise because I was feeling a sort of infrequent grind through the gas pedal. Just before I began to initiate a left turn the tranny made a horrible grinding noise and the car stopped dead in it's tracks.
Hopefully this was the source of the shake.
I'll post once I get the tranny fixed.1992 Festiva GL 1.3L

Ok, tranny was source of the grinding noise and the shake, at least under 55mph.
I found a used tranny. Also found something not so surprising, all the tranny, and starter bolts were loose, and the brace on the starter side wasn't even bolted to the converter housing. The new leftside drive shaft was galled when the tranny broke , had to use a crow bar to get it out and it wouldn't go back in, smoothed the galled area and it went back in just fine.
I think the bolts were left loose by the shop that my x paid to swap in a motor from a 93 stick, she hired them because they had that fish symbol on their sign.
The fusible wire block next to the battery was a source of a no crank, no instruments panel, although the wires were OK the block had internally corroded and I had to temporarily run a wire from my stereo system amp fuse to the alternator.
I haven't had a chance to get it on the fwy, but there's no shake at all. 55mph is as fast as I could go around my neighborhood.
I tested for the following: (vibration not shake)
vibration in park; none.
vibration in drive/brake on; yes could feel it throughout the car.
vibration on take off; none after 10mph
vibration on deceleration, and or braking; none until below 15mph
Something that did surprise me was that the vibration in park comes and goes when the headlights are turned on and off. Now this is something I've never experienced.
I suspect the shake will show up at higher than 55mph because I still think there's some radial and or lateral round-out.
I'll posted again on this and the electrical load vibration.
I'd like to get your thoughts on the vibration.1992 Festiva GL 1.3L

Had same shake above 55mph. After having new tires installed, problem was somehow rim got bent while tires were being installed, the guy that did it loaded 1rim up with weights
trying to compensate for what he did, went back to him once to recheck balanceing, still shaking above 55. Took car to another shop and found out what the first shop had done, replaced rim shakeing went awayRenegade-Midwest Festiva Inc.Illinois Chapter
